Finance Futures: A Day of Mentorship and Insight at James House

On Friday 11th July, The Rigby Foundation and Rigby Group Finance team came together to deliver a powerful Finance Careers Day to local young people. The event was held at the Head Office of SCC, Rigby Group’s flagship technology business—a space where purpose meets possibility.

We were proud to welcome 30 students and their 3 supporting teachers and staff from Ark Boulton Academy, one of our Inspiring Futures partner schools, who spent the day exploring how finance shapes the world around them and how it could shape their futures.

With the support of finance mentors, students worked in teams to develop presentations on how financial education could be better supported in schools. Their ideas were bold, thoughtful, and deeply rooted in lived experience, ranging from providing pupils with Financial Advisors in schools to developing Apps to help with saving. The successful team won out with their excellent and well considered finance digital learning modules specifically tailored to young people.

The day culminated in a career panel and Q&A, where students asked SCC staff insightful questions about their career journeys, qualifications, and what it really means to work in finance. The honesty and encouragement from our panellists made a lasting impression.

This event reflects the heart of the Foundation’s mission: to open doors, raise aspirations, and invest in the next generation.
