Skills and Training Day with Generation UK, SCC and The Rigby Foundation
9 Mar 2026
We were proud to support an in‑person Skills and Training Event at SCC Headquarters in Birmingham, delivered in partnership between Generation UK, SCC and The Rigby Foundation.
Designed specifically for unemployed adults aged 18+, who have experienced multiple barriers to accessing employment, the day focused on building confidence, strengthening employability skills, and offering real insight into what a career in a global tech business looks like.
Participants spent the day working through a series of hands‑on workshops led by SCC colleagues and Generation UK facilitators. These sessions covered:
· How to structure a strong job application and CV
· Understanding what employers look for
· Interview tactics and confidence‑building techniques
· How to communicate strengths and transferable skills
The atmosphere was warm, supportive and energising with participants encouraged to ask questions and receive personalised feedback. One of the most powerful elements of the day was the opportunity to hear directly from SCC professionals about:
· Their own career journeys
· The realities of working in tech
· The skills that matter most in early careers
· How to stand out when applying for roles
These conversations helped demystify the tech sector and showed participants that there are many routes into meaningful, stable employment including pathways they may not have previously considered.
This event is part of a growing commitment across SCC and The Rigby Foundation to support people who are currently out of work helping them build the skills, confidence and networks needed to take their next step.
By partnering with Generation UK, we’re able to combine high‑quality training with real employer insight, creating a powerful bridge between talent and opportunity.
To the participants who joined us, thank you for your openness, energy and determination. To SCC colleagues thank you for your generosity, honesty and encouragement. And to Generation UK thank you for your expertise and partnership.
