Partnering for Place: Mobilising Philanthropy, Public Leadership and Communities

19 May 2026

We’re proud to launch Partnering for Place. Funded by The Rigby Foundation, this new report is rooted in a simple truth: lasting change is built locally, through partnership. When public leadership, philanthropy, impact investment and community insight align around a shared purpose, places can unlock far greater long‑term impact.

This place‑based giving approach shapes our work in the West Midlands, and Partnering for Place brings it to life through practical examples from across the country, showing what’s possible when partners play to their strengths, commit for the long term, and shift from isolated action to shared mobilisation.
The report builds on DCMS’s Our Place to Give, offering a clear, practical blueprint for integrating philanthropy and the wider impact economy into inclusive growth.

Huge thanks to AchieveGood and the Impact Economy Collective for convening and shaping this work, and to Minister Satvir Kaur MP for her foreword and support for a more place‑centred, partnership‑led approach. We’re also grateful to Minister Stephanie Peacock MP (DCMS), Lord Stockwood, Minister for Investment, Minister Miatta Fahnbulleh, Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, and to Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region for vocally supporting the launch of the report and its ambitions.

Thanks also to the invaluable feedback, insight and experiences shared from across multiple partners, central government, mayoral authorities, philanthropy, social investment, business and civil society. This timely report is a reflection of what’s working and a call for intentional collaboration for lasting change.
