SCC Recyclea Employability Day

It was a real privilege to be part of the SCC Recyclea Employability Day, supporting students from John Henry Newman Catholic College at Recyclea’s Birmingham site.

The day gave students the opportunity to step into a real working environment, explore how a business operates, and take part in team-based challenges focused on real-world problems. From pitching ideas and answering questions from mentors, to touring the site and learning about careers within the circular economy, the experience was designed to build confidence, teamwork and communication skills.

What stood out most was the enthusiasm and creativity of the students, supported by the time and expertise of SCC colleagues and Recyclea mentors. These kinds of experiences are invaluable in helping young people connect education with the world of work and start imagining future pathways they may not have otherwise considered.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for making the day so impactful and for demonstrating the power of partnerships between schools, businesses and The Rigby Foundation in opening up opportunities for young people.
